The state of employee wellbeing
The pandemic has systematically changed the paradigm of work. Ever since then, we haven't really stopped hearing about ways to improve "employee wellbeing" and the importance of companies promoting employee welfare. There is no doubt that spending time and energy on this has a positive impact on the eNPS score (measuring employee satisfaction and loyalty) and reduces the risk of team burn out, which indirectly avoids a high churn rate, to name but a few benefits.
So the million-dollar question every company wants the answer to is this: How can we truly look after the wellbeing of the humans that make up our teams? Of course, HR departments can follow a set list of go-to methods and best practices to improve the mental, physical and social wellbeing of their workforce, and swiftly mark them as "done" once the checklist has been completed (as if employee welfare could be checked off a list...).
But how can we actually design a real people-led strategy that encapsulates all these pretty fluffy concepts like the ones we are talking about here?
For us here at Manfred, what we believe is that there is no magic formula, nor one size-fits-all solution that works for everyone. We believe that each company will have to work on the basis of its characteristics and particular needs, create a unique framework and from there, clearly iterate it. Or to translate into tech lingo, treat this matter as if it were a CI/CD development process ;)

Is the hybrid working model JUST ABOUT work? Are we doing it right? |
Microsoft published its very own report in which they investigate issues such as the productivity levels of companies with employees working on a hybrid basis, the current talent market and what they consider to be the future of companies. They've carried out a survey of over 20,000 people. Now that's what we call a proper survey! |

Honest talk: Have VCs missed one of the greatest reputational opportunities? |
Carlos Iglesias, CEO of Runroom, shared a reflection on a Twitter thread about the questionable strategy of VCs in Spain who are buying into the 'Elon narrative'. «They had a magnificent opportunity to create a generational change in the investment world, modernise the narrative and place value on ethics and people.». |

You've been fooled all along: Procrastinating is actually not a bad thing |
And not only is it not bad, it's even beneficial. In this very insightful article, The New York Times analyses the benefits of not attacking head-on all tasks as soon as they come in, overcoming anxiety and giving our brains a safe working space. We loved it! |

Why does one leave a job in design? |
Cris Busquets has conducted an interesting survey in the Spanish-speaking community with the aim of finding out the reasons why designers leave their jobs. Spoiler alert: lack of a strong working culture, unattractive salary package and lack of a clear career plan are some of the main reasons. |

Will "Mastodon" be the trending word in 2023?
What is Mastodon we hear you ask? It's basically the place where everyone has been going since the rumours of Twittah's demise began. Is it rumoured to become the next hot social network? And more importantly, will they find a way to let us import our Twitter archives? |

The New Manfred' is here: what the “M” is that?
Manfred got off the ground 4 years ago. It all started from a Telegram channel, a handful of job posts indexed in GitHub and No-Code tools. We are proud to shout over the rooftops that we now have our very own technology, which we have been building for a while. That is, roughly speaking, what we mean by 'The New Manfred'. Head to the link below to discover all the cool new things you can now take advantage of. |
